Cerrahpaşa Tıp Fakültesi Patoloji AD Although cancer is rare in childhood it kills more children than any other disease and is second only to accidents as the commonest cause of death between 1-14 years of age. There are great differences in the incidence of these tumors in various countries. 2628 pediatric tumor cases registered in our department in last 20 years. 1455 (55.96%) of them are malignant. The three commonest classes of malignant tumors of infancy and childhood are lymphomas (24%), leukemias and tumors of the central nervous system. All solid tumors together make 40-45% of them.
